We focus on two core areas: estate planning and probate.
Estate Planning
This is where most clients start. We help individuals and families put legal protections in place so that if something happens to you, the people you love are taken care of and your wishes are honored. Our estate planning services include:
Wills — a clear, legally binding record of how you want your assets distributed and who you want to care for your children
Trusts — a flexible tool for protecting and transferring assets while potentially avoiding the probate process
Powers of Attorney — designates someone you trust to handle financial and legal decisions on your behalf if you're unable to
Health Care Directives — documents your medical wishes and names someone to make health care decisions for you if needed
We offer flat-fee packages so you know exactly what you're paying upfront. Trust packages are tailored to your situation and discussed during consultation.
Probate
When a loved one passes away, navigating the legal process of settling their estate can be overwhelming — especially while you're grieving. We guide families through the probate process in Minnesota, helping with everything from filing the initial petition to distributing assets and closing the estate. Probate services are billed hourly at $290/hour.
Not sure which services apply to your situation? That's what consultations are for — we're happy to talk it through.

A few things, actually — but the one our clients mention most is how the process feels.
Estate planning touches some of the most personal parts of your life: your family, your finances, and what happens when you're no longer here. That deserves more than a form-fill experience. At Cygnet Law, you work directly with attorney Charla Hunter from your very first consultation to the day you sign your documents. No hand-offs, no associates, no wondering who's actually handling your case.
We also believe that understanding your plan is just as important as having one. We skip the legal jargon and explain everything in plain language — so you leave every meeting feeling confident, not confused.
And because we operate as a focused, streamlined practice, we're able to offer flat-fee estate planning packages that make quality legal counsel accessible without the overhead costs of a larger firm.
Local, personal, and genuinely invested in getting it right for you. That's what we're about.

Honestly? Most clients tell us it's a lot less stressful than they expected.
We know estate planning can feel like a big, heavy topic — and for a lot of people, it's something they've been meaning to do for years but kept putting off. We get it. That's why we've built our process around making things as clear and comfortable as possible from the very first conversation.
Here's what working with us typically looks like:
We start with a consultation where we sit down together, talk through your situation, and figure out what you actually need. No pressure, no upselling — just a real conversation about your family, your wishes, and your goals.
From there, we gather the information we need and get to work drafting your documents. We walk you through everything, make any revisions together, and once you're happy with the plan, we schedule your signing appointment.
Throughout the whole process, you can reach us by phone or email and can expect a response within 48 hours — usually sooner.
From first consultation to signed documents, most clients complete the process in about three months. And when it's done, you'll have a plan that's truly yours — one you understand and feel good about.

Our estate planning packages are flat-fee so there are no surprise bills. A Will with Health Care Directive and Power of Attorney starts at $900 for an individual and $1,300 for a couple. Trust packages are priced based on complexity and are discussed during your initial consultation. We believe good estate planning should be available for all.
